Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has congratulated the state Head of Service, Mrs. Ekereobong Akpan, on account of her retirement.
The State Governor who lauded the leadership qualities of the outgoing Service Head, described her services during her active years as meritorious and worthy of emulation.
Speaking at the valedictory Executive Council meeting held to round up the tenure of the present administration, Governor Udom acknowledged Mrs. Akpan’s ingenuity in the running of the state civil service, adding that her tenure was devoid of disharmony among the workforce.

He noted that the name she was fondly called –”Mother of the Exco”, was a result of her seasoned contributions to deliberations at executive meetings and that her exit would be greatly felt by members of the state council.
He wished the outgoing service head success in her new endeavors, while expressing hope that her successor would consolidate on her achievements in the Civil Service.
In her response, the outgoing Service Head, Mrs. Ekereobong Akpan, was full of gratitude to God for a safe landing on her service journey.
She also made her appreciation known to the Governor for the privilege of serving the sate under his administration.
Describing him as a labour-friendly governor, Mrs. Akpan thanked the Governor for paying keen attention to agitations of the state workers and pensioners, paying their salaries and entitlements promptly, and assenting to the training and retraining of workers for optimum productivity.
She prayed for the success of the Governor’s second term tenure and pledged her readiness to contribute her quota to the incoming administration’s success.
