Governor Udom Emmanuel is according priority to quality Healthcare delivery for the people of the state as evidenced in the huge investment in the health sector, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Health has said.
The Commissioner, Prof. Augustine Umoh stated this recently during his maiden meeting with the Management staff of the Hospitals Management Board.
Prof. Augustine Umoh said the Governor has between 2015 and now, embarked on the building, reconstruction, renovation and reequipping of secondary health facilities and across the state to ensure better equity in the accessibility of healthcare services by the people of the state.
According to him, the existence and functionality of the secondary health facilities are of added advantage to the people as they facilitate quality health care services to the people of the State.
He said the meeting aimed at getting him acquainted with the Management Staff of the Hospitals Management Board, know their challenges and chart the way forward for improvement.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Hospitals Management Board, Dr David Udo-Umo, expressed appreciation to Governor Udom Emmanuel for appointing a capable and competent hand in the person of Prof. Augustine Vincent Umoh to oversee the health sector of the State and expressed confidence in his ability to discharge his duties effectively.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board, Mrs. Stella Etukakpan while congratulating the Commissioner on his appointment, assured him of the cooperation of Management and Staff of the board.
The meeting featured briefings by the Directors on issues bordering their directorates.
