Governor Udom Emmanuel Inaugurates more Roads to Mark State Anniversary
As part of activities marking the 34th Celebration of Akwa Ibom State creation, His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel yesterday, 23 September, commissioned 4 internal roads of 3.4 kilometers in Uyo Local Government Area.
Governor Udom Emmanuel, during the commissioning, stated that his led administration, in the last six years, has recorded signature projects across all the 31 Local Government Areas of the State, which according to him was part of his avowed determination and commitment to make Akwa Ibom become a model of development for the nation.
Governor Emmanuel posited that the commissioning of the internal roads within Shelter Afrique is symbolic. He used the moment to pay tributes to the past leaders and founding fathers of the State, both in the military era down to the civilian administration, where he’s currently holding sway as the Executive Governor of of the State.
He reminded Akwa Ibomites that his administration means so well for the people, thereby, witnessing infrastructural development in the State. This is a deliberate attempt to place Akwa Ibom State in the pedestal of development in the country. The Governor dropt the hint that the Dakkada Tower, otherwise called the 21 storey building, will be commissioned on Friday by Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He described the Dakkada Tower as one of the smartest buildings in Nigeria which is an asset to the State, maintaining that it is impossible for a state under a harsh economy to have such a building.
Governor Udom Emmanuel also expressed appreciation to the people of the State for their patriotism and solidarity to the State, coupled with their unflinching support to successive administrations over the past 34 years. The Governor solicited for more support from the people and prayed for continued advancement in the State.
Presenting the specifications of the roads, The Honourable Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga, disclosed that the construction of the roads brings to 16, the number of internal roads linking Shelter Afrique in Uyo with a major security gateway.
“The roads have been constructed to specifications and all the roads have full drains throughout which dmeets all the specifications that we gave Bulletin Construction Company,” he said.
Prof. Ibanga noted that the roads were impassable from the inception and commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for his immediate construction of the roads which was awarded to Bulletine Construction Company.
“I don’t want to go into too much of technical details but the pictures speak for themself. Most of these roads were impassable at the inception of this project,”
Also speaking, Rt. Hon. Michael Enyong, Member representing Uyo Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, stated that the construction and commissioning of those 4 internal roads in Uyo is a well celebrated benchmark and a value added infrastructure, thereby raising Uyo Local Government Area to the Zenith of development. The Commissioner
pledged his unalloyed and unwavering support to the led administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel and his completion agenda.
In their separate remarks, Hon. Anietie Eka, the Member representing Uyo State constituency in the AKHA, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, The Executive Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Prince Enobong Uwah, the Executive Chairman of Uyo City Development Commission as well as His Royal Majesty, Edidem Slyvanus Effiong ageeed Uyo has shared and benefited humongously in the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel, recounting about 33 days ago when the Governor commissioned the Ikot Oku Ikono flyover and other arrays of projects in the area.
The Road commissioned include , The General Koko Essien to Avenue, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem Avenue, David Lawrence Crescent, and Nicholas Ekarika Avenue.
