Governor Udom Emmanuel has hinted that the selection of members for his second term cabinet will be based on capacity and investment in Agriculture.
Speaking on Sunday 19, at the Full Life Christian Centre in Uyo, where he worshipped alongside his wife and members of his current cabinet, the Governor explained that his decision was informed by his food and wealth creation agenda.
He further expressed that he was an employer of labour from his personal Banana farm in Ini Local Government Area of the State, and therefore saw no cause why his aides should not be farmers.
“So, before you get an appointment, you must show us your farm, because I am leading by example”, he said.
The held that capacity was a key ingredient required in leadership, and harped on the need for commitment and diligence if one is set to achieve greater purposes in life’s pursuit.
The Governor therefore, called on parents and guardians to commit their children and wards to hard work and diligence, rather than giving them wealth to make them indolent and wasteful managers.
He also charged the Church to desist from preaching prosperity but hard work, adding that the current economic situation in the country needs everyone to be tangibly involved in a sustainable income generating effort that will change the status quo.
Earlier, the Senior Pastor of the Full life Christian Center, Rev. Ntia I. Ntia admonished the Church on “Pursue Gain with Godliness”, from 1 Timothy 6:5-10, emphasizing on the need for labour as a prelude to wealth.
He observed that the trending get-rich-quick syndrome has destroyed hard work and encouraged corruption amongst the youths especially, and called for the embrace of labour, noting that a man without work has no status and cannot be celebrated.
Features of the service were prayers for the Governor and his wife, his administration, and Nigeria.
