The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has accused the Nigeria Police Force of executing the Warsaw war threat issued a few months ago by Senator Godswill Akpabio.

Akpabio, few weeks after he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, while answering questions from journalists liken the 2019 general elections in Akwa Ibom state to a war situation with now popular saying ‘Warsaw will see Warsaw.’

Emmanuel also called on the Inspector General of Police to recall the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Musa Kimo from the state.

According to the Governor, Kimo has fulfilled the mandate that he was posted to the state, therefore, his continued stay in the state is not necessary.

The governor, who asked for the immediate withdrawal of Kimo stated that the Commissioner today, escorted five former APC legislators, whose positions were declared vacant, in compliance with a court order, into the chambers of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

He also asked that the Officer Commanding, Quick Response Squad, QRS, be transferred out of the state within 24 hours.

According to Emmanuel, since his arrival in the state, Kimo has been holding meetings with the five legislators and other APC members on how to create violence and crisis in the state.

Addressing newsmen at Government House, Uyo after a visit to the State House of Assembly, Emmanuel declared that democracy has been threatened in the state through a breakdown of law and order supervised by the Nigeria Police Force.

He lamented that the police force which is funded from the resources of the state is turning around to terrorize indigenes of the state.

Emmanuel, who was in the assembly premises narrated: “Since last night we heard about this…we called the Police Commissioner and told him you want to escort three sacked members against the rule of law and he denied. This morning all they were drumming was the Warsaw saw War. We have seen a trace today”.

“Some people were arrested with fake army uniforms. They came with 18 AK 47 and they were arrested. But unfortunately, as I am speaking right now, those people that were arrested the QRS person, through the order of the Commissioner of Police were asking that those people, all, be let go. And before this time, fortunately, some of our guys were able to capture these things with their phones. So we have pictures of the fake army uniforms people were wearing. We are going to play for the whole world to see. The 18 AK 47, recovered by the police, police allowed them to take them all back. This is the same Warsaw that was pronounced,” lamented the governor.

Emmanuel disclosed that he had reported the Warsaw threat and the role of the police in the invasions of the state House of Assembly and the threat to the peace and security of the state but no action has been taken.

He revealed that he called the Inspector General of Police severally but the police boss refused to pick his calls or call the Commissioner to order.

The governor declared that the refusal of the presidency and security heads to take action indicates that they are indirectly asking Akwa Ibom people to defend themselves.

The action of the police, Emmanuel averred, is a declaration of war on the people of Akwa Ibom state and appealed to the international community to take note of the war going on in the state.

“I have never heard where Nigeria Police is partisan, this is the first time I am seeing where the entire police structure belongs to one political party. We don’t have the police. We don’t have anything except God and our people. We want to let the world know that whatsoever happen in this state is caused by the police and not any other arm of the security agency”.

Reports have it that as early as 6 am Today, 5 APC legislators, whose seat were declared vacant on November 19, led by the parallel speaker, Nse Ntuen stormed the assembly complex.

The lawmakers who were escorted by police and thugs gained access into the assembly’s chambers and started proceedings.

The APC legislators suspended 11 lawmakers from the PDP and were about to commence an impeachment process against Emmanuel when they got wind that the governor was on his way to the assembly. They hurriedly adjourned sitting and fled the premises.

The arrival of the governor escalated the shooting in the premises as policemen on Emmanuel’s convoy engaged in a gun duel with unidentified gunmen and policemen that escorted the APC legislators to the house.

Twenty-one PDP legislators led by Speaker Onofiok Luke later held a plenary session where the state 2019 budget estimates were referred to the House Appropriation Committee.
