Flip Side: Movie Addressing Rape Set for Premiere in Calabar

Gender Based Violence, especially rape, has gained attention in recent times. Could it be that the crime of rape, especially against women and girl children has suddenly taken an unimaginable proportion and dimensions in contemporary times? many have wondered.

While many have blamed the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic as being the reason for the increase in this heinous crime, others are of the opinion that the lockdown only amplified what had been going on around us.

But what can possibly make a sane person rape a fellow human? Nowadays, male children are not spared of this deflowering; the abuse, now on both sexes has continued to increase alarmingly.

The movie, FLIP SIDE sheds light on gender-based violence, in a bid to address the thorny issue and stem the tide of this worrisome trend. The film is directed by veteran, Teco Benson; starring Enyinna Nwigwe, Linda Osifo, Segun Arinze, Ifedi, Ify, Eze, Moses Armstrong, Shan George and Effiong Ekpenyong who are Special Assistants to Governor Ben Ayade on Callywood and Senior Special Assistant on Carnival Planning respectively.

The Pearl Ball Room of Transcorp Hotel Calabar will on Independence Day Eve wear shades of glitz and glamour as Cross River State Governor, Sir Ben Ayade and his wife, Dr Linda Ayade will grace the premiering of the movie which will be hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Development on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 by 4pm.

The Executive Producer and Managing Director of Keves Global limited, Chief Ikenna Okafor (Ide Akwaeze) as well as the Producer and State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr Eric Anderson will play host to casts and dignitaries from the public and private sectors.

The Cross-River premiere is a black bow tie event and promises to be star studded. The Chairman of the occasion is Chief Barr. Chris Agara, while Dame Senator Florence Ita Giwa is the Chief Launcher.
