Five persons are yet to be found after unknown gunmen made their way into the Moriki Government Girls Secondary School, Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, through the back fence on Wednesday, May 1.

According to the Zamfara State Police Public Relations officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, the gunmen were almost assessing the girls’ hostels when a combined team of PMF/CTU/ and Civilian JTF personnel, headed by the DPO arrived the school upon being alerted of the development. They then retreated into the bush.

Speaking on Thursday, May 2, the Force spokesman said that no case of abduction was noticed initially but “2 caterers and three 3 of their children were later discovered missing”.

He assured that the whereabouts of the missing 5 would be known soon, adding that the Police, with the School are making frantic efforts to find them.

“A search and rescue operation team has been dispatched to the surrounding bushes for an extensive bush combing”, he said.
