Youths of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) numbering 168, who won the President’s Honours Award for the scheme between 2015 and 2017, have been offered automatic employment into the civil service.
They also have been given automatic scholarships to undertake postgraduate studies of their choice in any institution.
This was announced by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, at the award ceremony which held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa on Friday, April 26.
At the event were the former Head of State and founder of the NYSC, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd); Minister of Youths and Sports, Solomon Dalung, Minister of Communications, Mr Adebayo Shittu, and others.
The President’s NYSC Honours Award, is aimed at encouraging corps members to contribute selflessly to national development through the community development projects that touch the lives of people.
Introduced in 1974, full participation in community development project and services, and commitment during the orientation course are criteria for the award.
