Less than a year since his returned from Barcelona B side, former CHAN Eagles forward, Ezekiel Bassey has joined Egyptian top division side, Al Masry, from the two-time federation cup champions, Akwa United.
The Pacey winger, Bassey who had a six months spell in Spain with the B team of Barcelona, joined Akwa United towards the end of last season after the Catalan club refused to take the option of turning his loan deal into a permanent contract.
The 22-year old has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Al Masry for an undisclosed fee.
After completing his deal with the Egyptian side, Bassey said “Personally, I’m happy with the transfer. I feel great to have joined one of the biggest clubs in Egypt. It’s a good move for me and I can’t wait to get started,”
He becomes the fourth NPFL star to make the move to North Africa this month, following the departures of Junior Lokosa to Esperance, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi to Setif in Algeria and Tosin Omoyele who also made the move to Egypt to pitch tent with Nogoom FC.
