“In 2012, Mike Igini conducted elections in Edo State as the REC and Adams Oshimole defeated PDP there, then, they didn’t say he lacks integrity”. Onofiok declared.

While expressing gratitude to God the victory God gave to the Peoples Democratic Party during the presidential and National Assembly elections in the State the lawmaker noted that during campaign, the opposition in the statr didn’t campaign but went round dancing sekem and calling us and the governor names while PDP were busy campaigning for votes, and that’s why the PDP won last presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

In a goodwill message, former Deputy Governor of the State, Engr. Patrick Ekpotu, who spoke on behalf of former Governors and Deputy Governors, pointed out that the agenda of the opposition Party is not in the best interest of the state, recalling an interaction he had with a friend who is in the opposition, on his arrival at the airport a few days back.

Engr. Ekpotu emphasized that the upcoming election to choose the Governor of the state for another four years, was very critical, describing it as a choice between black and white and noted that a vote for the opposition APC is a wasted vote.

According to the former Deputy Governor, “In the past three and a half years, we have had cause to smile, we have seen that the affairs in the state is beginning to change, our aspiration is wearing a new dimension, everybody wears a smile on his face and we cannot allow that to change overnight”.

Ekpotu added, “Not to allow that to change is to ensure that you go out totally, wholly, collectively, in three days from now, stand out and cast your vote and make history by telling the world that in Akwa Ibom State, we speak and decide on who leads”.

He stressed, “When we leave this place, let us go with one message, that we have a Governor we can trust, that we have a Governor that we believe in and that this Governor has to continue from Saturday and that all of us have a responsibility, the boys, the girls, the men, the women, the young, the old, the poor, the rich, you must come out and vote for Governor Udom Emmanuel”.

Earlier, the State Chairman of the PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, said that the rally was also to thank God for manifesting his Power in the state, recalling that the government and people had prayed and set a target before the Presidential and National Assembly elections and God granted victory to the PDP.

Obong Ekpo thanked the Party fauthful and the electorate who voted the PDP on the February 23rd elections, expressing hope of victory for the Umbrella Party at the upcoming elections in the state.

On his part, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth matters, Akparawa Aniefiok Iwa-Udofia, maintained that the responsibility of the youths is to vote and defend their votes, hoping that God will ensure absolute peace during the electoral exercise.

Akparawa Iwa-Udofia, who represented the Youths, condemned the influx of opposition-sponsored political thugs into the state to cause mahem during the March 9 elections, lauding the swift response of security personnel who intercepted and arrested the hoodlums.

The mop-up rally featured 20 governorship aspirants from different political parties in the state, who declared their support to Governor Emmanuel, announcing, through the candidate of the Young People Party, YPP, Mr. Nature Udo, that  they have collapsed their political structures to the PDP,  having found Governor Emmanuel more suitable to lead the state.

Highlight of the event was the mass defection of some key players in the opposition APC, who opted to identify with the ruling PDP in the state.
