…it is for the betterment of the people – Works Commissioner
A notable market in the Afaha Etok area of Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government, has been relocated to allow for the expansion of the road.
This, the Commissioner of Works said, is to ease traffic in the area, reduce accidents and death, as well as boost socio-economic activities in the area.
The Commissioner for Works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen, while speaking with elders of the host communities, noted that, the Afaha market will be relocated to a place not far from the road to ensure an expansion of the road.
Inyangeyen noted that the narrowness of the road was responsible for the accidents and deaths of people in the area, resulting from the carelessness of overtaking drivers.
The Commissioner, alongside his Ministry of Lands and Town Planning counterpart, Mr. Ime Ekpo, advised the traders to relocate to the new location of the market, and appealed to youths of the area to cooperate with the contractors handling the project, to ensure its timely completion and delivery its users.
The ongoing construction of Ring Road 3 which traverses from Goodluck Jonathan Boulevard through Oron road, and opens at Nwaniba Road will be completed shortly.
