Chinese Corporation Neglects Local Contents, Denies A’Ibom Contractors Supplies
It’s sad for China Road and Bridge Corporation, CRBC, to deviate from global best practices neglecting the role of Local Content and denied Akwa Ibom State indigenous Contractors Jobs after the Akwa Ibom State Government, AKSG, awarded contract to CRBC.
The Uyo Local Government Revenue Agent, Mr. Dominic Williams, frowns at the way CRBC continues to rape Akwa Ibom State Government resources without investing in the state by giving indigenous contractors jobs like granite and laterites supplies.
According to Williams who spoke with the press today at uyo, said “such practices are not obtainable anywhere in the world, not even in China their own country. Local Government must take what belong to them. CRBC can not rape our collective resources anymore.”
“Akwa Ibom State Government gave CRBC jobs, they own the job. They do the supply and they refuse to comply with the haulage rules. The charge levied for hauling is being pocketed by CRBC. They are the ones doing the contract job. They are the ones doing the supply.”
“The haulage policy has it that you pay at loading and at the point of discharge. CRBC confided on other contractors not to pay, ” he stressed.
Mr. Dominic Williams reiterated that the company refused to attend interface meetings with Uyo Local Government several times and shielded the contractors.
He called on Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, AKHA, to speed up the recovery of revenue leakage.
