“Today, September 23, 2020, comes with boundless joy and reminiscences on the momentous crystallization of Akwa Ibom State, 33 years ago.

The attainment of our statehood on that glorious day, September 23, 1987 was indeed God’s divine visitation and a gratifying outcome for a tenacious pursuit that lasted several decades. Despite the encountered vicissitudes and delay, it came to pass as we trusted a faithful and fulfilling God.

That Akwa Ibom State berthed 20 years after the first creation exercise in 1967 and exactly 60 years after our forebears muted the idea in 1927 makes our anniversary an occasion of incomparable significance in the calendar of our events.

On behalf of my wife and constituents of Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, I heartily felicitate His Excellency, Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel and the entire people of Akwa Ibom State on this epochal anniversary of our 33 years of statehood.

Our journey as a State named after God has been worthwhile. We are growing in leaps and bounds and each day comes with refreshing hope for a future that will continue to be more glorious and fulfilling. We must therefore applaud successive leaderships of Akwa Ibom State since 1987 for their vision, steadfastness and commitment towards the wellbeing and development of our State.

I offer my thumbs up for His Excellency, Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for not only sustaining the tempo of development with landmark strides, but reinventing a place for us in the aviation and industrial sectors of the economy through the establishment of an airline company – Ibom Air – as well as attracting high-tech industries to Akwa Ibom State.

As our forebears laboured and bequeathed a State for us, it surely places a demand on us to live progressively so as to enhance the development of our State and our nation as well. I urge constituents of Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District to remain steadfast and offer their unflinching support to Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel’s administration.

As evidences abound, I will continue to impact on the lives of my constituents, the senatorial district and beyond. I will also continue to offer valuable contributions for the growth and wellbeing of Akwa Ibom State and our fatherland, Nigeria.

With a grateful heart to the Almighty God, I am happy that so far, my legislative services have enhanced Nigeria’s economic fortunes, particularly, in the Oil and Gas sectors, leading to my being honoured by the Federal Government with a Special Award through the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on January 9, 2020 in Abuja.

As we celebrate our anniversary, I join our Governor and all Akwa Ibomites and well-wishers to offer thanks to the Almighty God for our fruitful voyage so far.

Surely that same faithful and fulfilling God, who makes impossibility possible, remains our source of glory and successes as we forge ahead in our endeavours as a blessed people.

Happy anniversary Akwa Ibomites!
