Insurgents Loot Military Base in Borno second Attack

Barely 24 hours after three suicide bombers exploded and killed 30 people in Borno state; another batch of insurgents attacked the Gajiram military base in the state and carted away the military armoury.

Gajiram, the Local Government Headquarters of Nganzai local government area of Borno state, is where displaced people from all wards in the council area are taking refuge.

An eyewitness reports that the insurgents arrived the military base in 10 trucks and many motorcycles on the night of Monday, June 17, chased out the troops and looted the armoury, before setting the base ablaze.

“They also stole drugs from an ambulance and food items from villagers before escaping”, the eyewitness said.

Platinum.ng gathered that one person was hit by a stray bullet in the course of the operation while the occurrence of casualty on the side of the military is still unknown.

A military source however revealed that the troops have returned to their base and fortified the general area.
