AKHA Inspects Ekim Power Station, Int’l Worship Centre

As part of its oversight function enshrined in the working tool of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, the House Committee on Special Project, Monitoring/Implementation and Aviation Development visited the Sub-Power Station at Ekim, Mkpat Enin and the International Worship Centre in Uyo.

As part of its oversight function enshrined in the working tool of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, the House Committee on Special Project, Monitoring/Implementation and Aviation Development visited the Sub-Power Station at Ekim, Mkpat Enin and the International Worship Centre in Uyo.

Led by the committee Chairman, Hon. Aniekan Uko, they expressed satisfaction at the level of work done, and applauded the state governor for being committed to the projects he has initiated in the state.

At the Ekim Sub-Power Station, the Committee was hosted by the Special Adviser to the state governor on Power and Managing Director, Ibom Power plant, Engineer Etukudo.

Briefing the august guests, Engineer Etukudo said that the substation was pleased with their visit, adding that it was apt and afforded him the opportunity of highlighting their progress and challenges so far.

He maintained that power supply and distribution has been handled appropriately for the benefit of Akwa Ibom people.

For Etukudo, the station will continue to come to the rescue of Akwa Ibom people in power to give meaning to the visions and aspiration of the governor.

Reacting, the Committee Chairman, Elder Aniekan Uko thanked the SA for a good job and urged him to ensure even distribution to the people of the state.

The Ibesikpo Asutan lawmaker equally charged the MD to make sure that certain percentage of the man power should be Akwaibomites to reduce the present unemployment rate.

The Committee later moved to the International Worship centre where they were warmly received by the Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Architect Ime Ekpo, flanked by his permanent Secretary who conducted them round the site of the edifice.

Architect Ime Ekpo briefed the Committee that the International Worship centre is resting on 11.8 sq hectares of land and will carry a capacity of 5500 people when completed.

Speaking on the quality delivery of the job, the Commissioner assured that the finishing will be perfect since the building will be done by the construction giant Julius Berger Construction Company.

Responding, the Committee Chairman thanked the governor for his love in citing the project and sees him(the governor)as one who does not play politics with projects.

Elder Uko and his Committee being satisfied with the paste of the job also beckoned on the site contractor to delver the job on the specified date
