The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency, Rt Hon. Aniekan Uko has begun tours to Wards in the Local Government Area, soliciting their supports and votes in the March 9 State House of Assembly election.
Hon Aniekan Uko recently visited three Wards of Asutan at Ikot Atang Esen Primary School, Okop Ndua Erong Primary School, and Ibesikpo Primary School, Aba Ukpo, asking their votes for himself and Governor Udom Emmanuel.
Aniekan Uko told them that a vote for himself and Governor Emmanuel would earn them efficient representation and development.
He maintained that their candidacies were not just for peace but for relative security, rapid developments in terms of industries, road infrastructure, enactment of laws for the betterment of lives, boosting of the state’s economic growth and development, as well as the sustenance of these.
Aniekan Uko stated that if re-elected to continue representing the constituency, his second tenure would be enjoyed by his clan, Ibesikpo while Asutan clan will take over from him in 2023 and last for two tenures too. This, he said will expand and create more avenues for the area to be developed.
Presenting the candidate to the people, Aniekan Uko’s campaign Director General, Barr M. D. Dangospel, described him as an excellent performer who deserves to be supported to keep attracting more dividends of democracy to Ibesikpo Asutan.
“The party has resolved that from 2023, the seat of the State House is zoned to Asutan ward 1, so I assure all Asutan ward 1 constituents to prepare very well ahead of the 2023 elections.
“There have been lots of insinuations that the Asutan people have been cheated but I am here to assure you that all have been resolved, signed and documented by the party. From 2023, the Asutan people will take their turn so, we solicit everyone to continue to support the re-election bid of Governor Udom Emmanuel and Aniekan Uko,” he said.
Also addressing the gathering, the Political Leader of the area, Prince Uwem Ita Etuk sensitized and educated them on the new directives by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on how to vote. He further advised the people of the three Wards to refrain from electoral violence and conduct themselves peacefully on the day of election.
In their separate responses, Wards Chairmen pledged their solidarity and support for the incumbent lawmaker, stating that they have been effectively represented by Hon. Aniekan Uko.
Mr Ezekiel Okpob, Chairman of Asutan Ward 4 stated: “Saturday, February 23, Asutan ward 4 practicalised the religion of the PDP by returning all PDP candidates and delivering block votes to all the candidates who vied for the different elective offices. Come 9th March, we shall replicate same template by returning all our candidates vying for the State House and Governor Udom Emmanuel for a second term.”

No bird can flap its wings in this Ward because we are witnesses to Aniekan Uko’s superlative performance and the basic amenities he has provided for us. Aniekan Uko, is one man that identifies with the plight of the people and knows what it means to belong here, that is why we are standing foot to foot with the PDP to reciprocate all the good gestures on the 9th of March”.
