Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, on Tuesday, August 4, presented a car gift to another journalist in the state, Mr. Ephraim Ikpe of the Wave Newspaper.
This came barely one week after the Governor doled out cars to a journalist, Mrs. Ekaette Joseph Thompson, and a woman leader Mrs. Patience Dominic.
Special Assistant to the Governor on Research and Documentation, Mr. Essien Ndueso, who made the presentation on behalf of the Governor, at Government House, Uyo, maintained that Mr. Emmanuel remains the most journalist-friendly Governor in the country.
He reiterated Governor Emmanuel’s continuous commitment to supporting media professionals across the state especially those who diligently focus on objectivity and developmental journalism.
Mr. Ndueso also thanked the Governor for his choice of media aides and information managers, most of who had been practicing in the state, and assured journalists in the state that support to the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel remains the best deal.
Other personal aides of the Governor on Project Monitoring, Uwemedimoh Umanah and Ernest Akpan, commended Governor Emmanuel for the gesture and his interest on media professionals in the state by providing various forms of support and incentives to them, adding that he is the first governor appreciating little and sacrificial efforts from journalists in support of his government.
In his response, Mr. Ephraim Ikpe expressed appreciation to the Governor for the unannounced gesture, and prayed God to give him the Grace to succeed in his industrialization drive for Akwa Ibom people.
“I have been in practice in Akwa Ibom for the last 13 years, this Governor has lived up to his billing as a true child of God.
“I did not have a functional vehicle and people were making mockery of me, but today the Governor has wiped away my tears.
“My support for Governor Emmanuel’s administration was not because I was expecting any special gift, but I believe God who knows my heart, passed through him to bless me with this gift”, said Mr Ikpe.
