Akwa Ibom State Government will on Monday, August 17, 2020 commence the Biometric Data Capturing of civil servants in the State Government employ.
Secretary of the Biometric Capturing Committee and Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the Office of the Accountant General, Mr. Sunday Udioko, said this in a statement released on Friday, August 14.
He noted that the exercise has become necessary in view of the need to sanitize the payroll data base as well as eliminate all possibilities of payroll fraud.
Mr. Udioko stated also that the three weeks biometric data capturing exercise is billed for 10am at the ICT Resource Centre of the Accountant General’s Office, Uyo.
According to him, staff of the Akwa Ibom Institute of Technology, Akwa Ibom Urban Taxi Network Limited and Akwa Ibom State Roads and other Infrastructural Agency are among other MDAs scheduled for capturing on the 17th of August, 2020.
The Director, who assured that the committee, would liaise with the appropriate authorities in MDAs for proper information dissemination on the exercise, however warned that any civil servant, who fails to appear for the biometric data capturing exercise, would be declared ghost worker.
All civil servants are expected to come with their Letter of 1st Appointment, Letter of Confirmation of Appointment, Birth Certificate/Age declaration, Letter of Last Promotion, Approval for change of name, First School Leaving Certificate, Evidence of Professionalism, Staff Identify Card and Individual Biometric Data Capturing Form duly endorsed by the relevant authorities.
It would be recalled that the Akwa Ibom State Government Biometric Data Capturing Committee was inaugurated by the Accountant General of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien on the 25th of June, 2020, with a mandate to establish a biometric data base for all public servants in the State.
