Akwa Ibom State Government has successfully finalized plans to stop the persistent flooding of IBB Way, Uyo, during rainy seasons.
The State Commissioner for Environment and Petroleum Resources, Sir Charles Udoh made this known on Monday, September 28, when he embarked on a familiarization visit to the traditional heads of the area.
Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr Nsudoh Nsudoh; State Coordinator NEWMAP, Dr. Ubong Harrison and a delegation of the Chinese Company (Chinese Road and Bridge Construction Company) in charge of executing the Project, Sir Charles Udoh intimated the Uyo Traditional Rulers Council through the Paramount ruler, Edidem Sylvanus Effiong Okon (JP) of government’s plans to commence the project.
Sir Udoh sought the full cooperation of the traditional institution for the project’s smooth completion.
The Eteidung of Aka Offot, Atan Offot and Effiat Offot in their remarks thanked the State Government for bringing to reality their greatest wish and pledged to give their full support to ensure quick completion.
Also present at the visit was the Uyo Local Government Chairman, Elder Imoh Okon; Village Head of Aka Offot, Eteidung Francis Morgan; Village Head of Atan Offot, Eteidung Idongesit Ekon; Village Head of Effiat Offot, Eteidung A. E. Udoh; Member Representing Uyo State Constituency, Hon. Anietie Eka; Youth leaders Women Leaders amongst others.
