The Akwa Ibom State branch of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has elected new executives to pilot its affairs.
The new executives which were announced following the outcome of the association’s election, will steer the ship of the NMA from 2020 to 2022.
The keenly contested elections held at Doctors’ Mess, Uyo, saw the emergence of Dr Ime Sylvester Udoh as the 17th chairman of the association.
Others who were also elected and subsequently sworn in are: Dr Mary Udoh- Vice Chairman, Dr Ekem Emmanuel John- Secretary, Dr Enefiok Hezekiah Jumbo- Assistant Secretary, Dr Usenobong Morgan- Treasurer, Dr Imoh Johnson- Financial Secretary and Dr Nsisong Asanga- PRO
In his acceptance speech, the new NMA Chairman thanked his colleagues for the confidence, trust and great privilege given him to serve.
He stated that his administration will be anchored on 3 points encircling: expanding the financial base of the Association, increasing the visibility and corporate image of the Association as well as promotion of members’ unity, welfare and safety.
Dr Ime Udoh assured that he and members of the state officers committee will be accountable, accessible and dedicated to the collective cause of all Doctors in Akwa Ibom State.
The election and swearing in of the new State Officers Committee was monitored by the Editor NMA National Journal and Commissioner Designate, Professor Augustine Umoh; NMA National Publicity secretary, Dr Aniekeme Uwah; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Man Power Planning, Dr Valerie Obot; Past NMA Chairmen Drs Etuk Umana and Nsikak Nyoyoko; Chairman National Association Of Doctors in Government Employ (NAGGMDP), Dr Anthony Umana; President, Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Dr Paul Walshack, the Medical Women Association Of Nigeria (MWAN) and a host of others.
