Akwa Ibom State government to partner NASSI for industrial renaissance
The Akwa Ibom State Government has promised to partner the State branch of the Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI) in order to boost the economy of the state.
The Commissioner for Trade and Investments in the state, Prince Ukpong Akpabio made this known on Tuesday at the grand finale of the celebration of 100 Days in office of the new Executive at the NASSI state secretariat, Uyo.
He further assured that NASSI in no distance time will wear a new look as according to him, the state government is committed to investing in the Association for economic renaissance
The Commissioner said,” the state will be proud of NASSI in many areas of partnership and I will report to the Governor that NASSI is alive in Akwa Ibom”.
In his lecture on Industrial Development , Economic Growth: Post COVID 19 pandemic- Leadership and Management, Prince Akpabio charged members of the body to
key into the industrialisation drive of Governor Udom Emmanuel to enhance economic growth of the state as well boost their businesses.
He urged industrialists to ensure that they apply good leadership and manegerial skills in their operations, saying , more industries are needed in the state to complement government efforts in this direction.
He also called on them to give the necessary support to Governor Emmanuel on his succession plan in 2023, believing that if given Udom opportunity to choose a credible successor, NASSI members will continue to receive massive support from government beyound 2023.
The Commissioner poured ecomiums on the state Chairman of NASSI, Mr Richard Wilson for development strides recorded within few months in office.
” Because the narrative has changed, I came to see, I came to believe, my brother, the Chairman has done well and so we must support him to succeed. We must join hands together to move NASSI higher” , he concludes.
Earlier, the State Chairman of NASSI, Mr. Rechard Wilson expressed appreciation to the Governor through the Commissioner for the new partnership, noting that the new partnership with the state government was a welcome development.
He said his achievements in few months in office were possible through the support of his executive and the entire members.
Wilson promised to use his good office to move NASSI forward for betterment of members and the public in general.
He called on members to support Governor Udom his adminstration in NASSI to succeed, promising to carry every member of the Association along.
Highlights of the event was, award presentation to the Commissioner, Prince Akpabio and SA to Governor Emmanuel who is also the immediate past President of Oro Union, Mrs. Jenet Amber
The week- long events featured, inspection of rehabilitation of borehole water, construction of two new toilets and bathrooms, renovation of NASSI Multipurpose hall,construction of NASSI gates, renovation of the temporary office of the Chairman, repainting of the secretariat, provision of signposts and inspection of NASSI farms.
Others are, election of the 31 Local Government Areas supervised by the Ministry of Trade and Investment, Live Radio and TV interviews, novelty football match between the State and Chapter Executives of NASSI, Thanksgiving Service at the Insight Bible Church, Uyo, carnival floats and public lecture among others.
