Akwa Ibom Govt Flags-off Construction of 3.63km Ibesikpo Asutan Road
In his sustained efforts at repositioning and achieving the completion agenda, the State Government has flagged off the construction of 3.63km Mbikpong Ikot Edim – Afaha Ikot Osom – Ikot Akpaedu Road in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area.
Performing the ceremony, the state Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel represented by the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Professor Eno Ibanga said that the government will continue to develop all part of the state to make life meaningful to the people.
The Governor promised that no project will be left undone stressing that “Getting this road captured was difficult because we are looking at actualizing government complet agenda, as no project will be left undone because this government means everything about the development of Akwa Ibom State”, he said.
He explained that the time limit given to the contractor of the project is one year, “the contractor has promised that, even before the time limit given, the project will be delivered.
Emmanuel assured that all roads listed for construction during his administration will stand the taste of time for upcoming generation.
Earlier, the member, representing Ibesikpo Asutan in House of Assembly, Elder Aniekan Uko, thanked Governor Emmanuel and described him as “Atang Anam 1 of Akwa Ibom State”, adding that the people of Ibesikpo Asutan has enjoyed the benefits of his administration.
Uko noted that Mbikpong Ikot Edim – Afaha Road axis is one of the economic hurb leading to two other Local Government Area Nsit Ibom and Nsit Ubium LGA.” Your Excellency, you have not known what you have done for the people of these local government areas, but for what you have done, God will do more for you”,He stated.
The law maker further appreciated the Governor for initiating the project, even when he had made up his mind not to start any new project, maintaining that it is promise fulfilled by his administration.
The Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Linus Nkan, hailed Governor Emmanuel for deciding to construct the road cutting across three communities in Ibesikpo Asutan, despite the lean financial resources of government.
The Council Chairman, Mrs Akon Michael, said that they were thrilled to host the Governor in their area once again and thanked the Governor Emmanuel for also sustaining the peaceful ambiance in the state.
On his part, the managing director of Rose Es Nigeria Ltd. Engr. Yoma Collins, appreciated the Governor for giving the company the opportunity to be a part of the development programmes in the state.
He assured that the road will be completed and handed over for inauguration in the next six months.
The event also had in attendance political stakeholders of the local government as well as the permanent secretary, Ministry of Works and Fire Service, Engr. John Itiat, the Director of Civil Engineering Directorate, Engr. Akaninyene Henry and all the Directors in the Ministry, who accompanied the Honourable Commissioner to the event.
