AKHA receives report on Regulation of Waterfront Bill

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has officially received the report on a bill to provide for the regulation of waterfront infrastructural development in Akwa Ibom State.

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has officially received the report on a bill to provide for the regulation of waterfront infrastructural development in Akwa Ibom State.

The report was received at the Tuesday, May 14 plenary, at the Chambers of the Assembly Complex.

The report, presented by the Chairman of the House Committee on Environment, Hon. David Lawrence, revealed that the bill, when passed into law, will facilitate the development of standards and guidelines for infrastructure and other development activities in the waterfront.

The law also intends to curb gully erosion and enhance scenic beauty, regulate the discharge of effluents into waterfronts and further facilitate the sustenance of sanitation and environmental integrity of the waterfront.

Meanwhile, the report has been deferred to another legislative date for further consideration following the unanimous agreement by the House.
