Abuja-Kaduna Express Way: Nigerians React to Kidnap of UBEC Chairman, Daughter, Dozen Others

Crime Latest

The incessant incidents of kidnapping and killing by armed bandits on the Abuja-Kaduna express road intensified on Monday, April 29, despite assurances by the police that the highway was safe for commuters.

Chairman of the Governing Board of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Mohammed Abubakar; his daughter, Miss Abubakar – an American citizen who came home to enhance preparations for her nuptials in June and dozens of people were kidnapped on the road on Monday.

Platinum.ng gathered that Mr. Abubakar’s driver was reportedly shot dead by the bandits during the kidnap.

Below are reactions of Nigerians to the sad development:

The reported kidnapping of Dr Muhammad Abubakar Mahmud and his daughter and the killing of his driver along Abuja Kaduna road today is tragic and unfortunate. I call on the security agencies to jointly intensify…

I hope this is enough to make @MBuhari return to Nigeria immediately from his UK private visit? UBEC chairman and daughter abducted, driver killed along Abuja-Kaduna road. Lives of Nigerians matter, life of a single Nigerian is sacred.

Just 2 weeks ago they all told us Abuja- kaduna high way safe. Now look at what happen. Where are the police, army. Thats how they told us we have 6000 MW and today a document is showing otherwise. This is how a government who invest so much on propaganda instead on people looks

With all due respect sir, we cannot keep reiterating what we already know. Security = 0% Electricity= 0% Roads =-0.000% Need I say more? Even today a top UBec official was kidnapped right on the Abuja Kaduna expressway. Nigeria is no longer at peace under your watch.

Mr President we are not longer comfortable with the news of Abuja, Kaduna road is free from the men of the ill-Intent, Nigerians are suffering and dying from the government failure to protect them and guarantee their safety.

Usman Shamaki‏ @aushamaki

Nigerian Police: We are on top of the situation. Abuja-Kaduna highway is safe! Bullshit! Bandits have become so bold that they operate in broad daylight! That is absolutely shameful! A highway leading to the capital of a country has been taken over by criminals! It’s shameful!

Abuja Kaduna express way is a summary of the bloodletting and agony in the country most especially the north. The government as usual is always at the top of the situation but for how long? @MBuhari do something and in earnest or till we all die in the hands of these evil men?
