A socio-political ethnic group known as Eastern Ibibio People’s Association on Tuesday, February 11 met to discuss the growth and interest of it’s members.
The well recognized and registered association with people of like minds met at DeAngelo conference Hall Uyo, to table matters that affects the region politically and to suggest ways it could be resolved.
The association’s areas of concern were the growth and political interest of it’s region which are Ikono, Ini, Itu and Ibiono Ibom respectively.
Top of the agenda of discussion were the proposed meeting with prominent sons and daughters in positions of authority and the proposed inauguration of the four chapters to be headed by Mr Effiong Benson-Ini,Arch. Joseph Archibong-Ibiono,Mr Peter Sam Emah-Itu and Hon. Etop Udofia-Ikono.
Fielding questions on the incorporation and accommodating agenda of the association,Mr Daniel Udo who is the advisory committee chairman said,the association is open to people across party lines,he stressed that Eastern Ibibio deserved to be recognised politically.
Earlier in his welcome speech,the leader of the association Mr Archibong Eteyen(Esq) sought for members cooperation in developing Eastern Ibibio for the sake of posterity.
Eteyen who sued for a uniting front said the time was apt to stand and take action so that Eastern Ibibio will have it’s pride of place in the scheme of things politically across the state.
He therefore called for the proper sensitisation of core villages making up the region as well as proper media publicity so that Eastern Ibibio will not be relegated to the background.
In attendance were all political stakeholders of the region made up of Ikono,Ini,Itu and Ibiono Ibom.
