A new Executive Committee of The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Akwa Ibom State Branch has emerged.
In an election conducted today 9th August, 2020, during the Annual General Meeting of the society, the seasoned Engr, popularly known as Opulence 5 floored other contestants and was declared winner by the electoral committee which was set up to conduct the election.
In acceptance speech, the new chairman thanked God for a successful election.
He also thanked members of the society for finding him fit to be their Chairman and promised to discharged his duties diligently. He promised to take welfare of members paramount and requested for support from members.
Born on December 10, 1977, Engr. Ukeme Okpob MNSE is an alumnus of St. Joseph Primary School, Anua Offot, Uyo. He attended Government Vocational School, Ewet, now Government Technical College, Ewet and later Government Technical College, Ikot Ada Idem for his secondary education.
He obtained Ordinary Diploma (OND) in Building Technology from Institute of Management and Technology, (IMT) Enugu in 1997, and had his first degree from Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT). Currently, he is undergoing a Master’s Programme in Construction Management (M.Sc) in University of Uyo.
In his undergraduate days, he had been Director of Socials, NAAKISS worldwide 1997 – 1998; Director of Socials, National Association of Civil Engineering Students, ESUT 1999 – 2000; Departmental President, National Association of Civil Engineering Students Esut in 2001; Senator, NANS Zone B, 2001 and SUG President (Acting), ESUT, 2001.
Other positions he has held are: State Coordinator, Goodluck/Sambo election campaign organization, 2011; Chairman, ESUT Alumni, AKS chapter, 2015 – 2018; President, Government Technical College, (GTC) Ikot Ada Idem Old Students Association; Publicity Secretary, NSE, Uyo Branch 2015 – 2017 and Vice Chairman, NSE Uyo Branch, 2018 – 2020.
In the course of his professional practice, Engr Okpob has displayed superlative engineering qualities. He has been a site engineer on the famous 19.5km Use Ikot Amama road project, worked with Ette Aro and Partners as Resident Engineer, worked with Basestar Engineering Ltd as site engineer, served as project consultant to Imo State Government, amongst others.
Engr. Ukeme Okpob MNSE is from Nung Obong, Nsit Ubium LGA, a Christian and a member of The Apostolic Church. He is currently a council member in the newly established/constituted Akwa Ibom State Public Procurement Council.
