NDLEA Arrests 95-year-old Indian Hemp Dealer in Ondo

A 95-year-old man, James Salihu, of Supare-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), for allegedly dealing in India Hemp.

According to the Ondo State Command of the NDLEA, the suspect was apprehended at his residence in 5, Idofin Street, Supare Akoko, following intelligence reports by villagers.

Confirming the incident, the NDLEA Commander in the state, Mr. Haruna Gagara, stated that the suspect would be prosecuted following his confirmed fitness by the medical doctor assigned to look after him.

The Agency gathered upon investigations that Salihu had been an addicted seller of the illicit drug in the area for years, without being discovered.

However, he was granted administrative bail due to his age and alleged ill-health, with a doctor to attend to his health and monitor him.

He would then be transferred to the Agency’s office in Akure when his health condition improves, the Agency explained.
