2023: We Will Follow Gov Emmanuel’s Direction – Peace Movement Coordinators
Coordinators of the newly inuagurated Peace Maintenance Movement have pledged their readiness to continue supporting Governor Udom Emmanuel in his development strides in Akwa Ibom State
They said they had no aspirants ahead of 2023 and will continue to support the governor to produce a successor that will consolidate on the Completion Agenda for the state.
The coordinators made the committments at their inauguration in Ikono and Ini Local Government Areas respectively.
Responding after being inaugurated to coordinate the movement in Ikono, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Petroleum Monitoring, Sir Victor Etefia said that, “the same God that brought Governor Emmanuel which transcended into relative peace, growth and development we enjoy today will also do even more in the near future”.
At Ini, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Glory Edet was inaugurated as the Coordinator for Ini, while the Chief Whip of the State House of Assembly, and Member representing Ini, in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong serves as Secretary.
In her acceptance speech, Dr Edet thanked Govenor Udom Emmanuel for confidence reposed in them, and pledged their loyalty and commitment towards the actualization of the mandate and objective of the movement in that Federal Constituency.
During the inauguration at Ikono Council Secretariat, Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, the Chairman of the organisation, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, who is also the National Legal Adviser of the PDP explained that the formation of PMM became necessary to ensure a mechanism for the consolidation of Governor Emmanuel’s achievements.
He listed other members of the movement to include elected and appointed office holders from the respective local government areas, with Mr Itoro Columba, a former local government chairman, serves as Secretary in Ikono.
He reiterated the need to sustain the peace, prosperity and developments recorded by this administration.
Barr Enoidem lauded the people Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency for their steadfastness with the PDP, and sued for their continuous support going forward, assuring of better times ahead.
Other dignitaries that graced the occasion include, Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, Deputy Speaker, State Chairman of the PDP, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Akpan, Chief Whip, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong, Commissioner for Agriculture and Dean of Commissioners, Dr Glory Edet, Commissioner for Information, Barr. Ini Ememobong, Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Barr. Ukpong Akpabio, Commissioner for Special Duties, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, Commissioner for local government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong, Commissioner for Lands and Town Planning, Pastor Umo Eno and Local Government Chairmen of Ini and Ikono.
Others include, Aides of the Governor led by their Dean, Ufot Ebong, Chairmen of Boards and parastatals, led by the Chairman of Board of Internal Revenue, Mr. Okon Okon and several officers and members of the PDP at the state and local government levels.
