Candidates who sat for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) have been advised to check for their results from Monday, April 29.
This was disclosed by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’s (JAMB) Head of Media and Publicity, Dr Fabian Benjamin, in Abuja on Saturday, April 26.
Dr. Benjamin said that the results would be released as soon as screening was over.
This, he said, was to help identify and apprehend examination cheats who had their ways through multiple registrations, biometric capturing as well as schools who engaged in group registration and ended up mixing candidate’s data.
He noted that results were usually released within 24 to 48 hours previously but “the board does not want this to be business as usual hence, the programmed delay, which is part of its deliberate effort to properly scrutinize, identify and address all forms of examination malpractice”, he said.
The Board’s spokesperson while regretting inconveniences caused the candidates assured that despite the screening, disciplinary actions would be taken on any irregularity discovered even after the release of the results.
He instructed the candidates from Monday to send RESULT, via SMS, to 55019 using the same phone number which they used for registration, assuring that the result would be replied as an SMS shortly after.
He explained that this simplified process was to eliminate exploitation by business centres and cyber cafés who take advantage of candidates when checking their results.
