The former Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Communications and, Elder Aniekan Umanah said on Monday, April 21, that political office holders who dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) betrayed both the PDP and people the State.
Also, the member-elect for the Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency, Umanah debunked rumours that he betrayed his former boss, Senator Akpabio, stating that he took a decision as an adult to stand with Governor Udom Emmanuel and a party which he said has given succour to his people.
Countering the allegation while speaking on air, the ex-Commissioner stressed that “the people of Akwa Ibom State worship PDP as a religion and as a result of that, those who left the Party to APC did so to their own detriment, Akwa Ibom remains PDP”, he said.
He reaffirmed his support for the state governor and the Akwa Ibom project, while maintaining that his representation at the Green Chambers is structured on two pillars of effective representation and massive empowerment; adding that he is equipped with the nuance of legislative functions which will aid him attract the needed development to his constituency.
” I am going to the National Assembly to fill the void left in our Federal constituency by the outgoing member”, he said.
